Cranberry Pretzel Salad

A delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors, cranberry pretzel salad is a perfect addition to any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup whipped topping
  • 2 cups cranberry juice cocktail
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the crushed pretzels, granulated sugar, and melted butter in a bowl. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. Bake for 10 minutes, then let cool completely.
  4. In a mixing bowl, blend the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in the whipped topping.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cooled pretzel crust.
  6. In a saucepan, combine the cranberry juice cocktail, water, and cornstarch. Cook over medium heat until thickened.
  7. Stir in the fresh cranberries. Pour the cranberry mixture over the cream cheese layer.
  8. Refrigerate the salad for at least 4 hours or until set.
  9. Cut into squares and serve chilled.

Notes

  • For a twist, add nuts or other fruit to the salad.
  • Can be made a day in advance for extra flavor.
